Reishi

|

In the Appalachian forest, the Springtime brings
A floral celebration fit for elven Kings
And fallen trees have sprouted little wings, I see
Fallen hemlocks of great girth
Return their essence back to the earth
Reigniting life to birth Reishi
The humans moved around so quick
That woolies made the hemlocks sick
Leaving all these conks to pick from trees
Mother nature's gift to slow us down
To sink our feet into the ground
Connect our hearts to what's around , Reishi!
The first time we met face to face
I was revolted by your bitter taste
You're now received with warm embrace, in tea
Conk of immortality
You build my core vitality
And soften my reality-- Reishi
You're never very hard to find
Your shape and colors blow my mind
With beauty that is quite divine to see
Such sagely wisdom you've accrued
Condensed into this tea I've brewed
For you I share my gratitude, Reishi

Kudzu

I see you stretched across the barren fields, deserted farms
Suffocating weaker life below
You’re just a pest so I can hardly guess
Why the southern farmer ever let you grow
Your growth’s deceiving as we never see you move
Though you measure out an extra foot each day
Time on your hands, patience is your secret plan
For mother nature to reclaim the USA
Kudzu, what are you? Plant or beast?—I’m so confused
Spread your verdant colors far and wide
Roots bound to the ground, how can you still move around?
Feeding off the powerlines; feeding off my jealous mind
Going where your mighty vines decide
Some folks are happy never leaving their home town
While other tend to migrate day by day
I fall between so contagiously I’ve caught your green
Envious of how you live both ways
I am contented by the comforts of my home
But if I sit still my soul won’t let me be
I’m often wishin’ that I had your disposition
So I could settle down but still be free

Spring Bee Waltz
03:24
|
|
||
I'm buzzing with Springtime excitement, enraptured by sweet smells and sights
I want to make love to each flower and surrender to primal delights
Every bloom beckons me closer and no sweeter song 'ere shall be sung
Then the buzz that the meadow will echo when your nectar is lapped by my tongue
Honey, I want to be close to my honey
Dance with me, Queen Bee, and savor the sweetness in flight
Honey, I want to be close to my honey
Come with me, Queen Bee, and share in the deepest delight
I'd give up my life in a moment to keep queen bee safe in my care
Still I know that the beauty of every blossom's a gift for all beings to share
And I'm weak in the knees with a lovesick disease
That makes my heart wheeze as I fly through the trees
Like a fine glass of wine and a big hunk of cheese
I'm so lustfully swooned by your scent on the breeze
Oh my, what sweet precious nectar! I'll take you back home to my hive
Even throughout the cold depth of winter you make me feel oh so alive
Honey, I want to be close to my honey
I make my way back to the hive to the sounds of the hum
Honey, I want to be close to my honey
I savor the pleasure and sweetness each time that I come

Dandelion

|

Bitter roots and flowers sweet
You drain out winter's darkness and clear out my toxic heat
A diuretic superstar
Your jagged leaves remind me that there's beauty in our scars
You're such a potent medicine for body, heart, and mind
How I long for early April when I witness fields explode with Dandelion
An Aries ram, energy unfurled
Fearless of a Springtime frost you burst into this world
Soft but tough, tenaciously alive
You push up through the concrete cracks and everywhere you thrive
Your energetic radiance sends shivers down my spine
How I treasure early April when I witness fields explode with Dandelion
Dandelion; your presence and your beauty is divine
Dandelion; reflecting back the Springtime's sunny shine
Your flowers leave a sphere behind
Comprised of parachuting seeds that make more dandelions
These magic seeds when gently blown
Dispurse our wishes to the wind and in the earth they're sewn
I'm endlessly impressed by your true elegant design
How I long for early April when I witness fields explode with Dandelion
I'll toss you in my salads and I'll drink you in my wine
So, have a happy April! Let's all witness fields explode with Dandelion

Ocimum (Oci-mama)
Ocimum (Oci-mama)
Ocimum (Ocimum sanctum)
Your stems grow up from little seeds. We carve them into mala beads
String them up on twine, three by three.
Until we reach one-hundred eight, pray for all beings fate
To be, happy and free.
Bees and humans think you're yum, you taste a lot like bubblegum
Some say that you are worth your weight in gold
A rasayana herb, you see, to help promote longevity
So I can plant you out until I'm old
Pungent, bitter, brightly warm, your medicine can help transform
Phlegm and stress, infection, flus, and pain
Expectorant and anodyne, you keep my body's health divine
Nourishing my spirit 'til I'm sane.

Prayers to you are made each day, hindu stories seem to say
That you were once the goddess of protection
Sweet and strong, devoted too; so fitting she was just like you
We celebrate your floral resurrection

Surrender
06:01
|
|
||
The love that I feel when she's close to me
Makes a chemical thunderstorm there in my brain
Since all of these neurons and feelings are mine alone
Shouldn't I too have the power to make my clouds rain?
The stories that I could give birth to are infinite
Connecting the dots of my feelings within
And each has potential to lead me to suffering
And each has potential to manifest good fortune in
Great Spirit: show me how to surrender
Teach me humility every day
I want to know how to let go, stay in the present and go with the flow
Teach me how to get out my way
So I'll hold in my heart a humbling gratitude
And let go of how I think things should come to be
With trust and intention, I'll let in the mystery
Knowing Great Spirit is far more creative than me

When Darkness Falls
04:47
|
|
||
When darkness falls our eyes adjust and every bit of light we trust
To guide us inwards on our quest inviting peace and quietude and rest
We face the shadows in the night that can't exist without the light
To these our gratitude we send until the light comes back to us again
We've got to hold each other close and tight
We've got to keep our fires burning through the night
We've got to find our truth and trust our inner sight
So we can welcome in the darkness with the light
The darkness spawns our greatest fears, our loneliness, our grief, our tears
We find ourselves within these holes to fertilize the seeds within our souls Our outer growth cannot exceed the energy our rootlets need
So when we feed the soil within we're lush and bright when Springtime comes again
In Wintertime the veils are thin so we can hear our guide within
Our hearts receive from stars on high sacred visions written in the sky
We peer into this vast unknown and see that we are not alone
Together to this world we came, our challenges and needs are all the same

Mangrove
04:36
|
|
||
Paddling for days in an endless sea
It seemed at last I'd spotted some land
Only to behold a stand of mangrove trees
An isle devoid of earth and sand
Mangrove-- you've amazed me at how you thrive
And colonize the brackish sea
Constantly unphased by the passing waves
It seems impossible to me
I'm not so very wise, but I do believe my eyes, and it seems impossible to me
If I were a snail in a spiraled shell
Upon your bark I might parade
And if I were the brilliant bromeliad
I'd make a home beneath your shade
But I am just a human in need of land
To hold my weary bones and my head
So onwards I must sail to another isle
Where I might find some ground instead
Your buttressed roots are nice, but they simply won't suffice, so I'll have to find some ground instead
To me the mangroves smiled and they echoed back
"Just twine your bed between my trees
The least that I can do is provide for you
A restful night of peace and ease
The tides will not alarm you, the ocean waves can't harm you, so enjoy a night of peace and ease"
A seafarer I once was for many years
Exploring on the open seas
But ne'er another night did I feel more held
Than in the bosom of those trees
I'll never take for granted a dreamtime so enchanted within the bosom of those trees
To you I give the blessing of the mangrove trees
To find your niche wherever you may rove
May you be unphased by the passing waves
And thrive within the harshest cove

Goldenrod

Solidago, solidago, solidago
Goldenrod feeds my soul
So solid I go walking in the colors of the Fall
The water moves within me, I can let go of it all
Taking in the beauty, every moment, every day
Knowing in my heart that all creation fades away
